The Pitfalls of Free Credit Card Travel Insurance

Many people rely on the free travel insurance offered by their credit card company. What they may not realise is that this can be rife with potential issues. For example, if the trip hasn't been booked in its entirety on the credit card, then the policy could be void. Also, if a claim isn't lodged within 30 days it could be rejected.

The adage "you get what you pay for" is very true in this instance. Don't wait until you're stranded in a foreign country to discover the inadequacy of your policy. Make sure you read the small print thoroughly before you leave so you're fully aware what cover you have, or haven't. If in doubt talk to your broker about more robust cover that will give you peace of mind and the cover you need.
